Pokémon and i have a...surprisingly tame history together (shocking, i know). I got into it, sure, it wouldn't be here if i never did, but it was never a full on OBSESSION like some other people. I just find it fun.

Believe it or not: it was actually from me and my dad watching the Game Grumps' playthrough of Pokémon FireRed that i first ever heard about Pokémon! Yeah, that's how i first learned it existed.

Pokémon X, i protested playing it for a while after it was gifted to me, due to me promising Mouton i would never play those games (that was a lie, i never made that promise to him, i just wanted to keep it a Game Grumps thing). I did eventually play it, and i liked it quite a bit.

Dat Butt. It's because my dad played through a bit of the begining of Pokémon X to tell me how it's like, not knowing about the convoluted way to delete a save in Pokémon games. So i was stuck playing as dat butt since my young ass sure as hell didn't know you needed to hold a specific set of buttons on the title screen.

I'm pretty sure i cried when i first saw the save name and my dad was so sorry. Ever since, i grew attached to that name, and always name myself that in every Pokémon game, or Pokémon related thing since.

Delphox! It was the starter my dad picked out when he was trying the game, and i just grew really attached to the Lax dude (even though i only realized he was a dude when i reached the swamp). I remember being very surprised when he evolved into that, but i eventually grew to love 'em! I used to pronouce the name as "Deadlock" until i was corrected when we were playing Hangman at the local Eggsquis (which, at the time, i called "the orange restautant", fun fact).

I remember opening a pack of cards in my dad's car and pulling Delphox, i screemed in absolute excitement, which i've never done for any card before or since, it is currently my only piece of Delphox merch (if you don't count the Delphox painting my mom did for me, which i do adore).

A male shiny Eevee i got from a trade by a stranger. I didn't know what a shiny was at the time, so i ended up trading it for a Level 50 Bisharp you get from an in game trade later on.

I then traded it for a level 1 Bulbasaur, the Venusaur it evolved into is still on that save file to this very day.

A female shiny Noibat i encountered during my playthrough of X. But since i still didn't know what a shiny was, and i was out of Pokéballs at the time, i didn't catch it. I would love to reclaim it one day, and if i do: i'd name her Lil X (after the baby Tasmanian Tiger in Wild Kratts and the game i first found her in).

A Spring-form Shiny Deerling! It was completly out of the blue and i didn't beileve it at first. And i'm glad it was the Spring-form too: since i personally find it's the best looking shiny out of the 4 possible forms. I named them Pink Mug ☆ (after the player avatars in Patently Stupid).

The Black & White era of the anime, used to binge watch a ton of episodes on Netflix before going to school. Fun fact kinda related to this: one year, my current elementary school at the time had the extended Pokémon Black & White anime opening of the French dub as their school song!
I instantly recongized it the moment it started playing. The funny thing is that they cut off the song RIGHT before they yelled "POKÉMON!" and it was so obvious too, because they didn't fade it or anything, just an abrupt cut to silence.
